Dealing with Disappointment (Lou Catorin)

We've all been disappointed when things didn't go as planned, when high expectations
weren't fulfilled, or when everything just seemed to come apart. We've all been there and
we've also tried to pin the blame on someone else rather than ourselves. That, or some of
us have decided to take it upon ourselves to unhealthy degrees.

However, we know that dwelling on disappointment is not good for us - mentally and
physically. By letting ourselves get stuck in that mindset only complicates life and makes it
more difficult than it actually is.

Do not make yourself a victim by pitying yourself; change your outlook.

First, realize that what happened is now in the past. Accept this fact because it is important
to acknowledge what just occurred. It existed in that instant, and needs to be recognized.

Next, look forward. The future is far more important and promising than what is now
behind you. That is to say, change is up ahead and all you have to do is move on towards it.

And finally, learn from your mistakes - why were you disappointed? What did you expect
- too much or too little? By evaluating the flaws in the design, you'll be able to envision
something better, make better decisions, and learn to accept what is and what cannot be.

Your life is a gift; there are many aspects in it that may be taken for granted or dismissed
without a second thought. However, when a crisis emerges, we typically revert to reflection

and evaluation. We are almost instantly reminded about the following: life is a gift, it is
short, and it is beautiful.

Now, that's not to say that we should put ourselves in difficult situations in order to
experience something that is eye-opening. The message here is that our lives are filled
with many different components. When everything unfolds before us, it may be a little
overwhelming and shocking. Thus, we should always be ready - to be challenged, and to
accept what we must go through.

It's an astounding phenomenon how things change quickly once you turn the corner. What
is it about this unfolding that ignites anxiety, fear, or excitement? Is it the unknown that
baffles us and causes us to quicken our hearts into making rash decisions? Should we
always hope for the best?

Conversely, there is a saying that goes, "Hope for the best, but plan for the worst". This
adage may help us mentally prepare for the rapid unfolding of our lives.

Do not fear what is to come. Your future is bound to open up to you sooner or later, so
anticipate it with a steadfast heart and mind. Hope that your life will unfold beautifully,
while planning to tackle some of its inconsistencies. Say to yourself, "I'm ready", then turn
that corner and proceed.

Useful Tips For Dealing With Unemployment

Every day, hundreds of people are losing their jobs. Companies are moving these jobs to other countries where they can hire employees for less salary. Another reason why companies are laying off employees is the rough economy. Whatever the reason is, losing your job is bad news. Unemployment Rate is higher than ever, so finding a new job will be tough.

Try to stay emotionally grounded; you are not the first person to have lost a job. We all go through such difficult times. Remain claim and live your life normally just as you did when you had a job. Do not get lazy and makeup early in the morning. It is tempting to get lazy and waste time. You should stay physically and mentally active at all times.

Apply for unemployment benefits. For an employed person, the money in benefit check will seem nothing but for unemployed people this check will mean a lot. Reduce your expanses and make sure to pay all your bills in time. You can buy a new suit when you get a job until then concentrate on, paying all your bills and providing food for yourself and family.

Update your CV if needed and start searching for a new job from the very day you lose your job. Internet is a powerful tool; use it in your job hunt. Use Craigslist, Monster.com and other websites to find a new job. Newspapers are also a valuable resource.

What will you do other than distributing your CV and using internet for finding a new job?

Do not waste your time in useless activities. As said before, do not get lazy. Losing your job does not mean you now can waste your time watching TV or doing other wasteful activities.

Instead of wasting your time in meaningless activities, you should look for part time jobs. You can even get jobs, such as data entry, copywriting, online. Other than doing part time jobs, you can consider increasing your educational credentials. Taking training courses will increase your experience. The more skills and experience you have, the more attractive your CV will be.

If you have remained unemployed for months then maybe you should consider starting your own business. It is not a bad idea given that companies are laying off more and more employees every day. However, starting a new business is a big step and initial capital is required. You will need to do a lot of research before making any final decisions. Also, see if you can find yourself a business partner.

Whatever happens, do not get disappointed. Eventually you will find a better job or maybe you will start a successful business of your own. Do not give up and always stay positive.
